Plan the day you actually have.
Momentum is a keyboard-first task manager. Type tasks the way you think, see what fits in today, and let your meetings take their share of the hours.
The Mac app, with sample tasks.
Fast to capture. Honest about time.
Everything you need to get tasks out of your head and into a day that fits, without leaving the keyboard.
Add in plain language
“Call Sam tomorrow at 3pm, about 30m” becomes a task with a due time and an estimate. Recognized phrases light up as you type.
Or use triggers
#project !high @friday +tag ~1h ^weekly, with suggestions you accept with ⇥.
Plan Today
Tick what you will do and watch it fill the day's capacity. Overdue and due work stays in; going over warns, it never blocks.
Your calendar, counted
Meetings within your working hours come off the day's capacity, from calendar files, macOS Calendar or Google Calendar. Declined ones don't.
Undo anything
Completed the wrong task? Press u or ⌘Z within 15 seconds and it comes back, on the Mac and in the terminal.
Mac and terminal
A native SwiftUI app and a terminal app share the same tasks, notes and dependencies, kept on your Momentum server.
A to-do list that knows how long your day is.
Set how many hours a day has. Momentum takes off what is already fixed, your meetings and a buffer, and shows what is left for the tasks you choose.
- Overdue, due and scheduled tasks are always in the plan.
- Tasks without an estimate are counted apart, never as zero.
- The plan is a tag on each task, so the terminal app sees it too.
Your hands stay where they are.
Every action has a key. Press ? in the app to see them all.
Read-only, for one purpose.
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. When you connect it, Momentum reads your meetings so Plan Today can take their time off your day. Nothing else.
What Momentum reads
- Read-only access to events, with the
calendar.events.readonlypermission. - Only your primary calendar, and only the day being planned.
- For each event: its start and end, whether it is all-day, whether it shows you as busy or free, your response, and its title.
- Titles are shown only in Plan Today, on your device, when you point at a meeting.
What Momentum never does
- It never creates, changes or deletes calendar events.
- It never stores or logs your events or their titles on the server.
- It never shares, sells or uses calendar data for advertising, or to train AI models.
- The access Google grants is kept encrypted, and Disconnect… in Settings ▸ Calendar revokes it.
Open source, and yours to run.
